WILSON ONG

Wilson grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and went to Brigham Young University, receiving a B.F.A in painting and drawing. He furthered his studies at the Art Students' League in New York City, NY studying with nationally renowned figurative artists Ted Seth Jacobs and Harvey Dinnerstein. He has sold his work professionally as an artist and illustrator since 1983. He has had exhibits and works shown at the Art Students' League; O'Brien's Art Emporium, Scotsdale, AZ; Springville Museum of Art, Springville, UT; Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH; Cottage Gallery, Carmel, CA; and Francesca Anderson Fine Art, Lexington, MA. He presently resides in Corning, NY pursuing his art full time. "I have always enjoyed looking at the figure since I first remember drawing seriously in First Grade. With time that interest has been balanced by other subjects, but the human form is still the most attractive genre for me to paint. I've enjoyed oil painting as my primary medium, because I find it so versatile. This medium allows me to be spontaneous and calculated depending on the nature of what I am painting. Overall I think painting is a privilege."
