DAGMAR SMITH
Dagmar is an artist based in Virginia. She graduated in 2022 with a BFA in Communication Arts from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, and is currently continuing to follow her passion for illustration. From a young age, Dagmar always knew she was going to be an artist; her earliest memories include her fascination with the drawings in her picture books and learning that paint will not always come out of her stuffed animals.
Dagmar's work explores themes of idyllic daily life, sisterhood, culture, and a love for the human spirit. She is influenced from her childhood growing up in Germany, her identity as an Asian-American, and her experiences on Earth. Most of the time, you can often find her holed up at a cafe with a hot drink and a sketchbook. If she’s not there, she is probably hanging out with her cat Penelope.
