ERWIN HAYA
Born in the Philippines in 1979, Erwin Jay Haya migrated to Japan where he lived for three years at a US Naval base until his family moved to the United States at the age of four. He was introduced to animation while living in Japan, and has been in love with it ever since. Giant battling robots and big-eyed girls filled his imiaginations, and became fuel for his creativity. Throughout grade school, art became his passion as he was introduced to different methods of creation from graphic design to graffiti to photography, all of which have greatly influenced his style today. In the fall of 1997, he attended Academy of Art College in San Francisco, California, where he majored briefly in computer animation, later establishing himself as a fine arts major with a focus on traditional animation and character design. He started his career in illustration working on various freelance assignments while interning at Barra, a financial software company in Berkeley, designing multiple inter-office documents and providing digital illustrations for both company documentation and software products. Erwin established onesickindividual.blogspot.com in 2003 along with the development of various web-comics. He has since exhibited at the San Diego Comic-Con for the past two years in addition to designing full-time as a freelance illustrator for various independent companies and art firms.
