MEG ISHIHARA
Meg Ishihara is an illustrator based in Japan. She spent much of her time growing up either doodling (mostly on her math notes) or pouring over picture books at the school library where she found her love for art. Watching Pixar's The Incredibles at 8 years-old launched her into having a deep interest in animation and ignited her passion to become an artist. During the weekends, she’d spend hours creating stories, designing worlds and characters, all with her trusty 2B pencil. She taught herself to draw with traditional media and later to work digitally using Photoshop. Meg went to college in Hawaii and started illustrating professionally. She returned home to Japan in 2018 and in spring 2020, she illustrated her first children’s book Hound Won’t Go written by Lisa Rogers and published by Albert Whitman & Co.
Meg pulls inspiration from the various cultures she's experienced growing up and everyday life with her family, friends and two chihuahuas. She makes art with the hope to bring joy, light and humor to those who see her work, and aspires to design for film one day.
