Submit Your Story

Every great book begins with a story that needs to be told. If you're an author — published or just starting out — and you believe your work belongs in the hands of young readers, we'd love to hear from you.

Shannon Associates has been championing authors and author-illustrators for over 30 years. We represent writers whose stories go on to shape how children see themselves and the world around them. If that's the kind of work you're creating, this is the right place to share it.

A strong, original voice.

We welcome submissions at any stage — from a polished manuscript ready for submission to a story still taking shape. What matters most to us is a strong, original voice and a genuine connection to your reader.

We represent work across picture books, middle grade, and young adult — fiction and nonfiction, debut authors and established voices alike.

In your own words.

Tell us about yourself and your project. Include whatever feels most useful — a query letter, a synopsis, sample pages, or all of the above. There's no rigid format here. We'd rather hear from you in your own words than have you wrestle with a template.

We review every submission carefully and will be in touch if we feel there's a fit. Due to the volume we receive, we aren't always able to respond to every inquiry, but we read everything that comes in.

A Note From Us

“Representation is a relationship, not a transaction. When we take on an author, we're committing to your career — not just one book.”

So we're thoughtful about who we bring on, and we hope you'll be thoughtful too about whether Shannon feels like the right home for your work.

If it does, we hope you'll reach out.

Have a story to tell?

Whether you're a debut author or an established voice, Shannon Associates is always looking for the next great story. We represent picture books, middle grade, and young adult — and we welcome submissions at any stage of the writing process.

Tell us about your project. We'd love to hear from you.
